Sonic Alarm Systems becomes Employee Owned
posted 13th March 2026
A leading Welsh Security provider, Sonic Alarm Systems, has completed an Employee Ownership transaction (EOT), which will see the majority of the share equity become owned by a Trust on behalf of its employee base, to reward its loyal workforce.
The move represents a landmark moment for the company and underscores a deep commitment to recognising the contribution of its long-serving team. The transaction was supported throughout by GS Verde (an AAB Group Company).
With expertise spanning across security solutions, Sonic Alarm Systems has built a reputation for reliability, technical excellence and customer-focused service. The company's strength has always been rooted in its people, from engineers with over 25 years of service to an operations manager with 18 years' experience, alongside newer team members who have quickly become integral to the business's success.
The decision to transfer the majority of share equity to an Employee Ownership Trust was driven by a desire to safeguard the company's long-term future while rewarding the loyalty and hard work of the team who have made Sonic Alarm Systems the respected company it is today.
Peter Regan, Director at Sonic Alarm Systems commented: “We looked at a number of succession strategies and when Employee Ownership was mentioned, and we considered the benefits to the team, and legacy of the business, it just felt like the right way to say thank you. The engineers, the office team, the people who represent Sonic out on the road every day – they are the business. This gives them security and a voice in what comes next.”
The Employee Ownership Trust structure ensures continuity for clients and staff alike, with the business's experienced leadership team remaining in place to maintain the high standards of service and technical expertise for which Sonic Alarm Systems is known.
With a fantastic range of experience, from engineers who have been with the company for over a quarter of a century, to talented new additions who have joined within the last 12 months, Sonic Alarm Systems' employee-owned future is built on a solid foundation of expertise, dedication and shared purpose.
Christine Regan, Director added: “We are so pleased to have found a route that rewards our staff. When you’ve worked somewhere for most of your life, it’s not just a company, it is people, families & shared history. This is not the end of anything, it is the start of a new chapter with plans to grow and invest in our people”.
The transaction was managed and delivered with the support of GS Verde - an AAB Group Company who advised across all elements of the process, including deal structure, legal documentation, corporate finance, and tax advisory.
Mr Regan further commented on the support from GS Verde - an AAB Group Company: "I just wanted to say a massive thank you for getting us across the line with the EOT. Thank you so much for your patience and hard work on our behalf.
It makes me smile thinking back to the day the Deal Team first tried to inform me about EOTs; I was a bit too quick to shut the idea down at the time. You gently delivered the information just so I was aware, and I soon realised this was the most suited route available for us and our staff.
When we informed our staff, it was received very positively, and everyone is genuinely excited!"
