Nigel Greenaway takes on four extreme challenges in aid of St David’s Hospice Care

At GS Verde Group, we believe in going the extra mile for the causes that make a real difference in our community.

Throughout 2025, our CEO Nigel Greenaway is set to embark on a series of four extraordinary challenges which will push his physical and mental endurance to the limit in aid of St David's Hospice Care.

Why the Four Challenges?

By taking on the four challenges, which will see him tackle some of the world's most demanding routes and landscapes, Nigel will be supporting a worthy cause close to our hearts.

St David's Hospice Care provides essential care to patients and families across South East Wales during times of need, and relies heavily on fundraising efforts from the community to help fund the services. With comfort and dignity at the heart of St David's Hospice Care's mission, patients receive vital end-of-life care in the comfort of their homes or within the hospice's facilities.

Nigel aims to raise awareness and funding for the charity, which will enable them to continue delivering their vital services to those who need them most.

The Four Challenges

Nigel will begin his fundraising journey in February as he travels to Rjukan, Norway to climb a series of frozen waterfalls ice climbs.

He will then travel to Sardinia in April to face the Selvaggio Blu Trek, known as 'the world's toughest trek,'. The route will include a 4,200m climb, five abseils and two via ferratas over 5 days.

September will see Nigel travel to South America to face Mount Roraima, where he will climb the highest of the Pacaraima chain of tepuis bordering Brazil, Venezuela and Guyana.

Nigel will conclude his fundraising journey for St David's Hospice by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the highest free standing mounting in the world and the roof of Africa. This will be Nigel's third time climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, with his most recent climb being in October 2024 to help raise money for St David's Hospice Care.
